P. E.

All children at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School receive 2 hours of PE each week, this includes opportunities to take part in gymnastics, dance, outdoor games, athletics, outdoor adventurous activities and swimming in Y4. Our aim is to deliver high quality PE and school sport for all children, to develop a lifelong enjoyment and passion for physical activity and sport. We want to help develop children’s self-confidence, positivity towards physical activity, cooperation, fair play and perseverance.

Curriculum PE lessons are delivered by class teachers as well as outside specialist PE agencies to ensure that all of our children receive high quality PE lessons that enable them to reach and show their full potential.

As a school we offer a range of extra-curricular sports clubs over the academic year including; football, tri golf, netball, athletics, multi skills plus many more! We hope to introduce new, up and coming sports to our list this year! The children at Our Lady of Lourdes School have the opportunity to compete against other schools at the Redbridge Mini games in a number of sports including; football, tag rugby, basketball, tri-golf, athletics, swimming and netball.  This teaches them to be tolerant when we lose and tactful when we win.

At Our Lady of Lourdes we believe that all children are creative. We aim to stimulate creativity and imagination and provide children with opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge. Throughout the year, art displays, school presentations, and performances are organised to celebrate the achievements in the creative arts.

Instrumental Tuition

All pupils have the opportunity to learn to play the recorder in Y4 as part of the music curriculum. Instrumental tuition, provided by the London Borough of Redbridge Music Service (RMS), is available for a limited number of pupils from Key Stage 2 at an additional charge.  Selection depends on availability of places and is at the discretion of the peripatetic music staff. Instruments currently on offer are piano, violin, cello, double bass, brass, woodwind and guitar.

All lessons take place during school time and invoicing for these lessons is undertaken in the prior term. It is possible to hire instruments from RMS for the duration of the tuition at an additional cost. Pupils can be added to the waiting list by writing to the school office and indicating the preferred instrument
