Our Lady of Lourdes Newsletter –   Friday 8th February 2019

Congratulations on gaining the Arts Mark Gold Award

As a result of the efforts of Mrs Lowe and Mrs Teague who co-ordinated and supervised our award work, the school has now achieved the Gold standard. This is a reflection of the excellent standard of work notably in our Art and Music curriculum that was achieved by the pupils and teachers in the school. Well done everyone!

Parish Mission 17th to 22nd March 2019

The Parish Mission is a time of spiritual renewal and growth in the community.  During the week of the Mission two priests, accompanied by lay people, will take over the Parish and conduct special services for parishioners e.g. early morning Masses at 7am and an evening service for pupils and their parents in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. There will be something for all age groups so please encourage and support your children to take part.

The Mission Father Keiran Brady visited Our Lady of Lourdes School and spoke to the children today. There will be more details later about the structure of the Mission week.  I would encourage parents and children to attend the 9.30am Mass this Sunday 10th February in Our Lady of Lourdes Church to support the Mission.  The Mission Father will be speaking at Mass and we would love to see the children there.

Haven House Singathon

"Turn up the Volume for Haven House" Singathon

The whole school took part in our Singathon on Wednesday morning. Mrs Teague led pupils and staff in singing an incredible 35 songs in an hour, including favourite hymns, songs, and rhymes. Our pupils did us proud by participating with such enthusiasm and it was a real joy to hear them raise the roof in song! This was a fun way to celebrate singing in our school and, at the same time, fund-raise for a most worthy local charity. Your very generous donations are greatly appreciated by Haven House, and will be counted next week. If you would still like to make a donation, please send it in to school by the end of next week, preferably by next Thursday so we can let you know the final total before the half term holiday. There is a special Haven House red collection bucket in reception, or pupils can give donations to their teacher.

Year 1 Trip to London Aquarium

Year 1 had a fabulous time exploring the wonderful world of the Oceans displayed in the London Aquarium. This included an opportunity to interact with various sea-life. Thank you to the parents who supported us on this trip and well done to the pupils for their excellent behaviour.

Bully’s Paradise (Production)

All pupils in Years 2 through to Year 6 were able to participate in this young and dynamic theatre production as part of our safeguarding curriculum. This is yet another way in which we proactively raise awareness on this important issue.

Class 3C Assembly

Thank you to the staff and pupils who led today’s assembly dedicated to the special people who influence their lives.

Our Lady’s School Feast Day Monday 11th February
