‘Parent Drop In’ Session 3:30pm to 4:30pm Thursday 4th April

Thank you to all the parents that attended the drop in session on April 4th. We as a school, value these sessions as an opportunity to share with you the work and efforts of the children throughout the Year.

Summer Uniform

After our Easter Holidays, the pupils will be expected to be their school summer uniform. We ask that you also support the school by ensuring that any jackets worn by the children in the summer term are a sensible school-type coat that is rainproof and appropriate for the weather conditions. Sweatshirts, sleeve-less jackets, hooded sweat tops or denim jackets, for example, are not allowed. A royal blue school blazer is optional.

Multiplication Table Check National Voluntary Pilot

The new multiplication check is designed to ensure primary school pupils know their times tables up to 12 and will be rolled out nationally in 2020. A national voluntary pilot of the check will take place between 10 June and 28 June 2019 and Our lady of Lourdes is part of this voluntary pilot scheme.

This check consists of 25 on-screen questions and will be conducted using laptops, computers or tablets in class. Year 4 pupils will get six seconds to answer each question in the test, which the government has said should take no more than five minutes to complete.

As yet, there is not a pass mark and there is no expected standard threshold. Results will not be published at school level and will not be used by Ofsted.

We are able to access preliminary ‘tests’ through our school DFE account. For parents wishing to work with their children at home, there is no official trial portal as yet.

Lost Property

There are lots of coats, cardigans, jumpers, hats, scarves and of other miscellaneous items currently in Lost Property.

Due to lack of storage space any unnamed items which have not been claimed by Friday 26th April will unfortunately be disposed of.

Governor News

The work on the security gates at the front of the school will begin over the Easter holidays. We are looking to completion by the end of May 2109. This is good news.

School Ends for Easter at 1.30pm Friday April 5th and School Opens on 23 April 2019

Wishing you all a joyous Easter.
