Initial SAT’s results at Keystage 2 - 2019

These are an outstanding set of results for the children and teachers in Year 6. The staff and children have exceeded all expectations with this magnificent outcome, which is well deserved and a tribute to hard work put in across the year.

It is a real shame that this success is marred by the adverse publicity in both the national and local press, which detracts from the work of the children and teachers at the school.  Surely such efforts could better be directed against school funding cuts across the local schools.

Key End of term Dates

July 16th  - Leavers Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church at 6.30pm

July 17th  - The Reception Graduation starting at 2pm.

July 19th – School breaks for summer at 1.30pm.

Farewells

As we draw the school year to a close, it is with sadness that we say goodbye to the following staff members – Mrs Carrig, who is moving to a new teaching post at Loyola. Mr. Jackson, who is moving to take up teaching positions nearer to his home. Mrs. Tranter, who is retiring this year, after giving very long service to the school.

To all those staff leaving this year, on behalf of the school family we wish them well in retirement and promotion. We all thank each of them for their dedication and hard work at the school.

New Staff

We welcome two new members of staff for September – Mr. Donaldson, who will be working with Year 5 and Ms. Reddington, who will be working with Year 1. We wish them every happiness and success at Our Lady of Lourdes.

New Classes

On Monday, the 8th of July, the children met their new classteachers for the first time. This was very exciting for both the children and the teaching staff.

After School Clubs

All after school clubs finish this week. There are no after school sessions from 15th to 19th July.

Cycle week- Monday 15th July - Friday 19th July.

Next week we are celebrating cycling! We are encouraging children to try to cycle as many times as they can next week to school. This is to promote a healthy life and to reduce the levels of pollution on our roads.

Every day a child who cycles to school will receive a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize in the school assembly on Friday 19th July.

Happy cycling!

Bikers breakfast - Wednesday 17th July

To end our year we are holding a bikers breakfast celebration. This is open for children who regularly cycle to school.  A letter has been sent home to children via their class teacher. Please return slips to your child's teacher by Friday 12th July.
